I just look at like this: if we have a creation then we must have a creator. One day when this crazy world ends mankind well find out the truth and if god does exist then IJR will be in trouble along with billions of other human beings.

i believe in God because i choose to. I do not have to get proof. I feel more at peace when i believe.I may not be as deeply religious as some. I do pray on occasion. and I do believe. not in detail reasons.

I have no doubt that there is a God. It's easier to prove that there is a God than to prove otherwise. Just look around you, without God there is a void. Without God the earth would be void. Mankind has a choice to believe or not; this is God's way. I choose to believe because he is real not only in my heart but also in my world.

Is there a God? I certainly hope so. I look at it this way, I would rather err on the side of believing. If the worst case scenario of believing in God, and acting upon that belief , is living a better life, than what have I lost? The consequences of not believing? I dont want to think about it. Flick, that was a great analogy! A masterpiece you might say.

It is troubling to become involved in this particular debate. Whether unbelievers or devout, serious thinkers have attempted for millennia to approach the question to give testimony and, for some reason, the issue rages still on either side.

A formidable command of intelectual, philosophical and linguistic awareness is called for to assert the existence of God persuasively; there is the risk that a proponent's ideas, unless clearly perceived on their merit, will come across as manifest arrogance in order to overcome prejudice. Skeptics cannot actually expect to explain away what they are disinclined to understand even from reflection; although they may have a sense of their inner 'truth', they cannot possibly find in language the vocabulary and syntax to change the minds of devout believers. To be prosaic: in the Iron Age no one would have been curious, able to grasp and elaborate or take interest in black holes in outer space or even in the bubonic plague, and yet, these lay waiting outside our experience.

At any rate, what's the point? Unless it is a matter of competing to 'win' an argument regarding our degree of intellect or sophistication, neither side should bother to change each other's mind. It will be impossible for anyone to prove to others' satisfaction their respective points of view. What does matter, meantime, is that atheists and believers share responsibilities and perform in society equally as well - or as badly.

What is going on here?!? I loved what KJ wrote and I was the 10th person who marked it as helpful. However, when I went back today to leave my own review, I noticed that all of KJ's "helpful" marks were deleted as well as all the comments that people left. It looks like it was re-posted because the date is wrong. That is so pathetic, RIA. Was it someone who worked at RIA or some hacker? I feel sorry for whoever did it. It shows a very ugly side in someone who is afraid of a good Christian post.

There is deffinately a greatest power that we call God. Normally many of us try to envision him, I just see him as invisible source of greatest good.

I think we all need a higher power to believe in. I would like to think that there is a heaven and that it is the most wonderful followup to a good life. I also like to think there is a place like hell for the sadistic cruel people who have no regard or respect for anything or anyone but themselves and feel no remorse for taking or destroying lives. Of course it is up to God whether or not these people go there, not me. I have a friend who is a pagen. Her beliefs are different than mine but neither of us is judgemental and I think we want the same outcome in the afterlife.

I certainly believe so. While I can not say that I have seen God come out of the sky like he did in the Old Testament, I can certainly feel His presence in my life. Faith is an important because in this life we really can't know it all. It's a difficult realization to come to, but the mistake that many rationalist philosophers like Descartes make is the notion that we can understand and know everything because it is there and available. Certainly I'm not being anti-intellectualist here, but we also have to acknowledge that there are many things in this universe that are simply beyond our understanding, even in our current times. We do know a lot now, especially relative to what knew a thousand years ago. But certainly not enough to “get” those eternal questions. On those, you have to just go with faith, which is many times more intuitive than anything else. Remember that many start hypotheses start out with an intuition first! That is an essential part of our human nature.

Do I believe there is a God? Yes. Am I going to twist anyone's arm to believe as I do? No. If however, I was asked to make a case for the existence of God I think more people would feel a connection if I dealt with the subject outside of the realm of spirituality. In my view, there is too much order within the universe for this to be the result of a random accident. Take for example the distance of the Earth to the moon, it's just the right distance to affect the tides yet do no damage. Then there is the relationship between the things of the Earth, such as the way insects and animals work together to maintain and procreate nature. No one has to tell a bee which plant to pollinate or a bird where to find food or build a nest. The same holds true for the plants and creatures in the ocean. Everything has a purpose. I just find it difficult to believe that all of this order happened by chance. (It's also difficult to understand how something living could come from something non living) For this to be the result of a random accident would be like parking a Sherwin-Williams paint truck next to a white wall, then taking a hand grenade and blowing up the truck. The explosion creates the Mona Lisa on the wall. Possible? Yes. Likely? No.

I can honestly and without any regret say this: "I don't know". For me, the question is "Should the existence/nonexistance of anything truly change me and what I consider to be "right" and "wrong"?" If I must change the way I treat others, or how I live my life based on whether or not I would be rewarded or punished, then I'm doing something wrong in my life. I want to be a good, decent person for no other reason than for the sake of being a good, decent person. This view on things may not suit everyone, I know, and I hope everyone finds comfort and contentment in the truth they see. If/When I'm slated to find out whether or not there is something beyond the life I know, I am content to wait for that time to come.

I believe in absolutes, not relativism. If I am wrong when I die I will not be any worse off than any atheist, but If I am correct...

That is a question you can only answer for yourself. If there is a benevolent creator, and you are part of creation, then you have a direct link.Do not be fooled into thinking someone else can tell you "what "God" wants." Life can be very confusing and especially in todays world we tend to get caught up in the HYPE,the manufactured world of the media and society. It's hard to go Deep into yourself and /or nature to find your personal connection to Spirit, but if you seek the truth with an open mind and a loving heart you will find it.You have to let go of fear, and hatred and jealousy, and all of the other noise.Maybe you won't succeed the first time you try,but don't give up.If you feel you need "guidance",try checking out a book that compares a wide variety of belief systems from many cultures, since EVERYONE has a "piece of the puzzle" yet no single belief system is Perfect. With many different views you can assimilate the parts that work for YOU.Your sincerity and respect for others and yourself will go a long way.

Is there a God really?? If God was so great and powerful, why does he allow so many bad things to happen?? I guess I believe in God, by default really, cause' what else created us.
