I saw a story on the news bout' this regardin' myspace.com. Some kids were sendin' each other notes and were plannin' on a copycat crime(there was an school killing in a mostly amish town and these kids wanted to replicate that.) Luckily these fools were caught before they did some damage. No one should kill themselves, but I'd rather hear bout' someone killin' themself instead of takin' out their own misery on innocent people. Its not fair to kill anyone. Sometimes I get pissed off with stuff. Why am I miserable?? Why am I unemployed?? Why do some peeps have more stuff than I do?? But life goes on, ya have to be strong enough to overlook certain things. Life isn't always gonna be easy, but I'd rather want to have peace of mind in school instead of worrying bout' some kid tryin' to shoot everyone. Ya dont solve your problems with guns...ya only create more. I wish more people would realize that.

The recent murder of the Amish girls is a tragic and disgusting situation. The sicko who did this was obviously mentally ill.Our society has a tough situation on it's hands in dealing with sociopaths and psychopaths. If people are deemed too dangerous to live in society, they are often put into mental hospitals or institutions on locked wards.(I know this very well,I worked on one for many years). This is done for our protection as well as theirs. The problem is,though, that this costs a lot of money and certain politicians are more interested in bragging about reducing your taxes at the expense of "social services",so they have shut down a lot of facilities where rapists, murderers and child molesters were housed. These people,if there's not enough room in a nearby state run facility, are then farmed out into "halfway houses" where they are largely unsupervised, and probably are not taking their meds.I know that man in Pennsylvania was not in such a place, but many others like him are or were.My point is,something should be done to improve our mental healthcare industry so things like that are not happening more often.

Unfortunately these stories are glorified and it gives people like the Columbine kids and the many instances that followed 15 minutes of fame for being wacko's. Some fault the media but I don't; they're just doing their job and covering the stories that they know will grab the viewer's attention. These instances will never be completely stopped, since people could commit almost any crime if they were so determined, although they could probably lessen to a large degree. IF the entire American population did not purchase the newspaper when it had one of these stories on the cover, or immediately changed the channel when one of these instances was on television, then the media would stop covering the stories. Since this won't happen, we have ourselves to blame as much as the media. And incredibly violent video games, while they aren't illegal and may not be harmful to some children, probably haven't started many children with psychological issues off on the right foot.
