i dont like to pay for firewalls ever since comodo had a free one but the limited free version of kerio i found to b better overall than comodo for the simple facts that 1) it doesnt take as many resources as comodo 2)its far more user friendly ((set it on beginner mode and even newbies can use it)) and 3) it doesnt have the application conflicts that comodo does.
i have more running now on kerio than i did with comodo and still my internet is faster with kerio than comodo. even if u dont want to pay for a firewall i still recommend the limited free version of this to comodo's full version. here's how to make up for kerio's loses when it becomes free
1) hips : easy replace with free cyberhawk 2)privact protection- use comodo's vengine with site advisor 3)ad blocks, javascript blocking- use firefox then ad ablock plus and no script 4)gateway- just add peerguardian which is an ip blocker ((yes a lot count it as a firewall and no u shouldnt use 2 firewalls but peerguardian is only an ip blocker so it doesnt conflict with kerio)) 5)cookie blocking-again use firefox as ur web browser and add cookiesafe to it.
those 5 steps will actually give back what u lose in the free edition of kerio.
