I, like mary4165, was also very unhappy at Gather. That disruptive group is indeed, very active. After posting several pieces based on personal experience, I received several anonymous emails accusing me of fraud.I posted a vigorous reply to such behavior and was called a whiner. That was enough.

I was very dissatisfied with Gather. They let a small group of people disrupt the system and I think they do it on purpose. Their site is very slow, at times it takes up to two minutes to post a comment. Their rating and flagging systems are a shambles. Corporate does not listen to members suggestions or compliants. In all it is a waste of time.

Earn points on Gather that can be redemmed for cash/prizes. Website is geared more toward discussion groups or literary contributions than simply personal web pages.
