 | GenghisTheHun (184) 01/11/2007 | I have watched these eagles in several situations and I have studied them for hours. I once saw a dozen of them at one time on the ice of a frozen lake.
I have seen them take waterfowl and then shuck the feathers and eat them on the spot. They are tough and magnificent to watch.
I was impressed with the Florida vs. Ohio State bowl game at Glendale, Arizona, in January, 2007. During the preliminaries, during the Star Spangled Banner, they turned loose a Bald Eagle that flew around and then flew back to its trainer. One of the military academies was singing the anthem. I tuned in just at the end and didn't catch which one it was. I think it was West Point.
I have never seen that before, and I didn't know you could keep a Bald Eagle in captivity. I suppose an exception is made for the military.
