I know, I know, it says in the Bible that women should not wear men's clothing, right? That being the case, women of the world, don't wear pants that belong on a man, damnit. That being said, there are pants in this world that have no business being on anyone BUT a woman, and I'm totally okay with those.

UPDATE: I just realized something. If we get Biblical in our dress codes, women can no longer hijack a man's shirt and wear it and little to nothing else. Certain reviewers I know are sure to dislike this concept...

I just read where someone thinks that wearing a dress or skirt has nothing to do with what is or isn't pertaining to a man or woman... My point is In Hebrews it states that God is the same Yesterday Today and Forever... SO that being said He is the same God in the Old Test. and the New Test. Not only did he NOT say ware men's clothes he said ... NKJV "A woman shall not wear ANYTHING that pertains to a man , nor shall a man put on a woman's garment for all who do so are an abomination to the Lord your God. "Key word to you it said Anything. Look up the word Pertain. And about the men wearing dresses. Not so. If you go back in history the men wore layers of clothes. robes to be precise. Look at it this way in a new modern world point of view, when you go to the bathroom in a public place and you want to know what door to go into as a girl what do you look for ... I have absolutely no problem with a woman feeling convicted to wear skirts all the time. that's totally a matter between her and god. On the other hand, i am completely bothered by the motive for this "holiness" concept. The whole Deuteronomy 22:5 verse which states that women should not wear clothing pertaining to a man, is a very general but vague statement. Some women have been almost "brainwashed"(and i mean that with no offense) to believe this statement without even further studying it or even talking to GOD about it. Never does it say that a woman's clothing is a skirt and a man's a pair of pants. This is the OLD TESTAMENT people! during this time men wore dresses(Dt 22:30, Dt 27:20, Ru 3:9, 1 Sa 15:27, 1 Sa 24:4, 1 Sa 24:5, 1 Sa 24:11, 1 Sa 24:11, Eze 16:8, Hag 2:12, Hag 2:12, and Zec 8:23). This verse just states that women shall not wear clothing that has to do with man's clothing. This concept is so simple. A woman shall not wear masculine clothing that makes her seem like a man. This goes for the guys too. I think a lot of women need to look into this a little more to fully understand why they believe what they believe. Again this is Old Testament. The times change, as do the clothes. Oh, and modesty is not only achieved with a skirt. Think about it. i can wear the most form fitting, hip hugging skirt around and not be modest. The same goes for pants. It's just a matter of not gaining attention with provocative clothing and portraying a more godlike character. you don't need the tightest clothes around to be recognized. Some religions need to stop worrying about how holy they can get with their skirts and start thinking about what really matters. Focus on your relationship with God. If he convicts you to dress a certain way, they do not hesitate to follow. But if you're just following after and ignorant teaching, then think it over and talk to god about it. i hope this makes some of you think.

Women should not wear garments are that are pertaining to a man. Deutronomy 22 v 5. If you call yourself a Christian then the Bible should be your guide and not people's views.

As long as women (and men too) are dressing in modesty and decently, there is no biblical rule of what men and/or woman should dress within the parameters of their particular items. Adam and Eve were dressing animal skins. Later people dressed differently. Today they dress differently. The point is, decency and modesty.

This is an argument I am very familiar with. A fair number of Christians hold a very strong belief that females should always be wearing dresses or skirts, and never wearing anything "bifurbicated" (that is, possessing a separate section for each leg). One reason for this stance is the feeling that they are somehow unfeminine, or garments "pertaining to men" (even the most feminine styles). Another common reason some women choose not to wear pants is that they think they are immodest, even the baggiest on the market.

I have to admit, this is a very commendable conviction. However, this conviction does not make anyone who has it any holier than one who does not. I, for one, do not have this conviction. Pants is what I wear most of the time, except to church on Sunday. My views are this: both pants and skirts can be immodest, just as they both can be modest. Some of the skirts are form fitting, too short, and have slits that run clear up the length of the leg. Some pants are immodest, as well. Pants are fine as long as they are not too tight. Of course, pants outline the shape of the leg, but they have that same effect on men as women. That means they are equally as "immodest" on men as they are on women. As far as femininity is concerned, there's something to be said about that, too. I have seen many women who won't wear pants, believing they are "men's garments", yet many of them think nothing about tennis shoes, sweaters, sweatshirts, T-shirts, and boots, and how they were men's garments first, but wear them anyway. And these same people also have come to accept women voting and becoming doctors, but cringe when they see a woman wearing pants. I mean, get real! I believe as long as any woman is not deliberately dressing to come off as male, that is what counts.

To conclude, this is just another conviction (like the use of playing cards, playing music in contemporary styles, etc.) that people have varying views on. I believe anyone who has this conviction should definitely be respected, and they should, by all means, stick to it. But they, in turn, should realize that not everyone shares these same thoughts.

Doesn't matter what you wear but who you are inside.

Do not look at the outside of the cup and the brim of it, but see what lies within the bowl before pronouncing it clean or dirty. The same is true for human beings. Honestly, I think that worrying about such trivial things as dress codes is a distraction from our true calling as the Body of Christ.

I don't remember Christ dictating fashion. It is foolish to think that clothes are what makes a person truly who they are...it is their spirit and their actions which ultimately define a person.

No, They can wear what they want as long as It's not  "see more cloths" that is, you see more of them than you do cloths. LOL. But no church has a right to tell any woman to wear this or that, as long as It's decent. There can be some legalistic churches out there though that can freak a woman out, telling them they will go to hell if they wear the wrong thing, nonsense! make up, lipstick and so on. The woman today is under grace, and can wear what she wants, as long as she is not trying to entice the men.

Only a Christian Women can come to their own understanding of what they are to wear!!! Every Christian is accountable to God and God alone!!! If she is at peace with her savoir wearing this or that, then that is what she should wear!! We must never judge a person by what they wear, due to the fact that a true Christian will change when God convicts if inappropriate!!! No brainier for me!!!

I believe as long as the pants are decent and moral, there is nothing wrong with a woman wearing pants. But on the other hand, I think people ought to go with their convictions, and if skirts and dresses is what they feel they should wear, then so be it.

One problem I have with people who call themselves Christians is they think they can tell you how to live, right down to what you wear. I do not go to church If i did I would wear something "dressier". I would not be willing to wear dresses and skirts at all times. i do not feel this proves how christian you are by a female wearing dresses.

Women AND men should wear what expresses their personality and their true state of mind. The point is to resist self-deception and the thoughtless use of fashions. As for dress codes: Avoid the situation to which it applies or dress accordingly.

Back in the days when this phraze came about, men wore skirts! This was only a Greek idiom which meant that the woman should not take the place of a man in an intimate relationship. It's hard to translate idioms from one language to another. Somehow they always get messed up.
