 | edt4 (99) 10/12/2006 | Good advice. When I used to drink heavily, I'd fall asleep quickly, but I wouldn't sleep long or deeply. The next day, not only would I have to deal with the sick, stomach-churning, gritty-eyed feeling that comes with sleeplessness, but I'd have to deal with the hangover as well. Sometimes, when I was at my worst, I'd deal with both problems by taking Vicodin or Percocet to postpone the inevitable physical torment just a little bit longer. When night fell, I'd take a sleeping pill, crash, and sleep like the dead. The next day, I felt like a zombie, but at least I had managed to avoid pain (or so I told myself). My health was going to hell, but when you're young, you think you're immortal.
