Is the ratio of dreck to substance higher in the comments section than in the reviews?Seems to me that posting of inanities followed by declarations of victory can be found in both.

Why do people keep bitching about this?Don't want to read the comments? Don't read them.Don't want to participate? Don't.

I like this feature, but in moderation.I prefer reading reviews to pages and pages of bickering comments. A lot of my feed is getting used up by people fighting with each other over the same old culture war crap.I'm going to start weeding out the bickering commenters from my network - nothing personal, but I prefer reading reviews.

We just rolled out an improvement where you can now edit and delete comments that you've made on a review.

The comment feature is alright, except when I see someone is using it to rip someone apart.

I like it a lot, despite its occasional abuse. And by abuse I mean over-the-top flaming, not comedy routines or sarcastic commentary.

It's a good feature, but can very easily be used for public flaming.

Hi All, I'm happy to say that discussions on the review pages are no longer limited to 10 comments. Thanks to Ridge and Kamy for lobbying for this tweak - it was a good idea. Oh yeah, does anybody think we should flip the order of the comments around so the most recent one is first? Would that make for easier reading, or is it not a big deal?

I've had half crazed sidebars in comment form with a number of reviewers. Its a hoot... UPDATE: Yes, with the strings of lunacy that we can assemble more than ten would be a good thing.

Though I've only rarely used the new comment (better described as a reply) feature, I'd say that this is probably the best compromise and solution for those members who wish to respond to subsequent reviews. As we all know, revising a review results in the loss of all "helpfuls", so a revision is not an option for many who keep an eye on such things. A reply allows for members to address a particular review without this loss. I see now that we can now reply to replies made in our own reviews, which is also an improvement. Since I'm of the opinion that reviews should stand on their own, I remain strongly opposed to a thread format for RIA, but again this seems like the best solution to make everyone relatively happy.

I really like this feature. I like the ability to have discussions about the reviews. I haven't used it a lot yet but have jumped in on a few and will use it more as time goes on.

No big deal- just another place to keep the more creative hate-mail. . .
