Annoyingly catchy tune from a band that was really big for about a year and a half. It had a slightly old timey kind of melody, so if you've ever wondered what a medicine show ran by a tranny might sound like...

It is easy to mock Boy George, but I must confess some of Culture Club's songs are very catchy. I have always liked this track a lot.

While this single may be the epitome of early Big 80's pop fluff, "Karma Chameleon" remains inescapable fun in my opinion. No matter what one may think of Boy George, he had a strong set of pipes that were smooth and soulful, and on this song George's vocals are balanced by a bouncy harmonica. "Karma Chameleon" was Culture Club's biggest single stateside (16 weeks in 1983-84, #1), and a little known punk band Baken Beans released a decent cover some years back.
