I am absolutely mystified why people dislike him so much. This man is truly an original and thought provoking artist. I absolutely love his solo work. I listen to his music and reflect upon my own life, love, world history, religion, politics, and philosophy. The only other artist that makes me think as much is Stevie Wonder. Let's not forget that The Police disbanded when they were at the top of popularity. Sting embarked on a solo career that was both ambitious and wildly successful. Songs like "Children's Crusade", "Fortress Around Your Heart", "Seven Days", "They Dance Alone", "Why Should I Cry For You", "Soul Cages", "Jeremiah Blues", "I Hung My Head", "I Was Brought To My Senses", "Desert Rose", "Brand New Day", and "The Book Of My Life" are among the greatest songs ever written by a single artist. He is also a great bass player capable of playing anything. I had the privilege to see him in concert twice [1988 and 1999] and count those two concerts among the best ever. I admit I'm a Sting fanatic but his induction seems to be a no-brainer. It would be a grave injustice if he does not get in as soon as humanly possible!!!!!! And I should also mention he did the greatest rendition of "Little Wing" this side of Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn. Now is that bad enough for your ass?

I do like some of his early solo work, but, overall, I don't think that's enough to give him a big endorsement.
