Christchurch, New Zealand and Melbourne, Australia have resorted to piping Manilow songs outside of Malls and Convenience stores in an effort to deter Teenage loiterers. Reportedly it works. Manilow is a favorite among middle aged and elderly ladies, Rock n Roll, it ain't. Sorry Bar, try some other Hall of Records.

This schmuck should have stayed with writing commercial jingles."You deserve a break today,At Mc Donalds" and crap like "mandy" and "I write the songs " are nearly indistinguishable.He's about as "Rock n Roll" as Mantovani.

There's not a trace of Rock and Roll in anything I have ever heard him do. I'm sure he'd be a shoo-in for the Middle-class White Culture Hall of Fame, if they ever start one. 

And in one of the great ironic turns in music history, he didn't actually write his biggest hit titled  "I Write the Songs", it was written by Bruce Johston of the Beach Boys.

We love to hate him. But he did set a standard, and listening to it all 30 years later - it was really pretty good. If you can stomach the genre.

A gifted songwriter, and a half-decent singer, but belongs more to pop than rock.
