It sounds like it wouldn't be romantic but to me neither is trying to manipulate your lover into saying something back like a parrot.
We say it when we feel it and the other one says that they know. It says "I trust that you do because I feel loved"
They will say it to you when it is their turn to really feel it, so why force people?
