I've always had this irrational hatred towards clowns.

Why do I have the feeling they'll be laughing at me, not with me?

So both houses of Congress are represented fully, I take it.

You will not be laughing in Hell, no matter how many clowns you get there.

Perhaps some clowns are so creepy because they are just the kind of caricature that makes the mind itch and ache by depicting the ugly side of a truth. Humans tend to be mischievous fools and pretenders. Suppose its quite unpleasant to be reminded of this sad fact, as one is as human as the next man.

Besides, some clown makeups inscribe features of a skull on the face. Suppose the subconscious perceives these features, especially if the clown is bald, although the round red nose and the thick hair around the shining plate obscures them. This secret reminder of mortality, which cannot be avoided because it is perhaps not even consciously noticed, might be one of the reasons why some clowns are so creepy and / or offensively bothersome.

Clowns. Why did it have to be Clowns?

Nothing is more demonic than clowns, kids.

could think of worse but clowns in my face all of the time. would be pretty bad. they can be creepy at times.

I'm not one of those phobia types, but the make-up, the smiles...they're simply creepy and un-natural. It'd be torture seeing them everyday, especially lots of them everyday

Couldn't agree more. I hate clowns! Check out Ihateclowns.com for like-minded folks and some interesting garb, etc. The only good clown is a dead clown.

The circus came to town when I was 5 and my mom took me to see the show. . .when the clowns came out I cried and shrieked. . .and my opinion hasn't improved several presidents later. . .
