Rather legit as long as it isn't something with judges. I hate stuff with judges. Maybe its just my track experience talking, but I gotta beat people in a way that can be quantified in a method besides a score based on an opinion or its performing arts, not sports.

The Olympics are an award in more than one sense. For the athletes, winning an Olympic medal is a legitimate award, the occasional cheater notwithstanding; but I've been getting the feeling that the REAL prize gets awarded much earlier--in the Olympic Committee's choice of location--and the methods used to award a city the Olympics are exceedingly dubious. How did Beijing, an environmental disaster of Superfund proportions, get awarded this summer's Olympics? (One Chinese dissident who protested the selection got two years in prison.) The IOC is one of the most bogus organizations in existence.

I'm not a big fan of the judged sports like figure skating, and there have certainly been some problems in that area, hence two instead of one star. However, on the other events, the athlete has to perform, and win. Pretty much the definition of bonafide.

Enough with the nationalistic pride; there's enough cheating in the Olympics to make Herr Bush envious. Retire it already.
