The roots of the Twins franchise date back to 1901 when it was called the Washington Nationals. They changed the team name to the Senators in 1957 before moving to Minnesota in 1961. The franchise has won three World Series championships, most recently in 1991. An AL Central team, the Twins play their home games at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis, MN. Members of the franchise in the National Baseball Hall of Fame include Rod Carew and Harmen Killebrew. (Add picture)

I AM FROM MINNESOTA AND I HAVE BEEN A TWINS FAN ALL OF MY LIFE. LOSING TORRI HUNTER IS NOT GOING TO BE A HUGE BLOW. HE IS OVER RATED, HE STRIKES OUT TO MUCH. THE ONLY THING WE WILL MISS IS HIS DEFENSE BUT WE CAN FIND SOMBODY WHO WILL BE ABLE TO REPLACE HIM. WE WILL NOT MISS TORII IF WE LOSE SANTANA THAT IS SOMTHING TO WORRY ABOUT.

They're ok...losing Torii Hunter is gonna be a huge blow to their lineup and defense but that rotation is gonna be loaded next year with young talent: Santana, Liriano, Garza, Slolwey...damn.

The best small market team in baseball, if the cheap ass owner would be willing to spend a nickel to make a dime they could be world series contenders every year with their young roster and prospects

Used to be the Washington Senators until they moved here in '61, were generally weak in the capital but did have some fine clubs in the 20's and early 30's. Have won 2 Series and had some competitive teams since moving to this city. They don't play in a particularly big market, their owner is a 657 year old cheap ass who made a fortune on foreclosures ( nice guy huh?) and while they won a weak division several times in the years prior to their 3rd place finish in '05, should have trouble fending off the greatly improved Chicago again, and also Cleveland in '06 .

My favorite team, they are a fun team to watch. I hope they make the playoffs this year, especially considering the fluke season the White Sox are having. If it wasn't for them, we would've had 4 AL Central titles in a row!

Great pitching, these guys can control the ball. No other team comes close in walks, half as many as the next team AND they have the second best ERA in the AL. Wild Card.

They'll win the division this year. They've got a strong pitching rotation with Johan Santana, Brad Radke and Carlos Silva. Their offense isn't scary but they're a focused bunch. Expect them back in the playoffs.

made a smart move signing Santana. this is the now or never year for the Twins before the curse of the small market catches up with them.

From Minnesota. Twins will always be in my hearts because of 1987 and 1991. But this team needs better hitters. That is why they can't compete with the Yankees.

What a joke their ownership is! Pohlad was willing to contract the team to make a buck. He doesn't care about the team at all. Easily one of the richest owners in all of sports and has only lucked out that they've had decent talent evaluation done at the minor league level. Look for the bottom to fall out eventually. Not really serious title contenders, lack of power for the AL.

The Twins are a great team. Ron Gardenhire has to be the best manager out there because he took a low budget team and made them winners. They're also doing better than my Yankees and leading thier division too. I like what I see from Minnesota.

They are a very game squad of young, no-name players that may not generate much offense, but fields adequately and has a very solid starting rotation. They are the class of their division in 2003, but have a very difficult time with the Yankees, which might preclude any pennant hopes.

I really started to follow the Twins when they were in the playoffs last year. This team is awesome! I love A.J. Pierzynski (even if some say he plays "dirty"), Doug Mientkiewicz (great smile), Torii Hunter (can that guy run, or what?) Dustan Mohr (good arm) and Jacque Jones (with a genuine love for baseball). I'm going to a spring training game this month -- go Twins!

I am sure the Twins will repeat the AL Central again in 03. Cleveland is done, Chicago's improvements are good, but not great. KC and Detroit are not even a threat, so it looks like everything is OK. As for Selig wanting to contract the Twins. The reason is because he wants the upper Midwest baseball fans to head to Milwaukee to root for his daughters useless Brewers. I would rather go to Chicago, KC or St Louis than going to that disposable stadium in Milwaukee.

This is a great team that loves the game... If Selig contracts this team, I'm gonna contract him! Long live the Twins! (and I'm a Cards fan!)

The Twins are a TEAM, stressing defense and pitching over power, quality coaching over "rent-a-player" superstars, and most of all, loyalty over payroll. Most of the team started together in AA ball. Team chemistry is off the charts and everyone on the field (and on the bench, with maybe 2 exceptions) is capable of winning a gold glove sometime in their careers. They are seldom "out" of a game, prone to late-inning rallies, and because of their recent success amidst the threat of contraction, are a great team to cheer for.

Their resurgence was truly magnificent to watch, but everyone knows they are not the team to beat. I enjoy watching them play and I hope they are good next year, too. That would make for more intense competition in the AL Central.

The lowest payroll in baseball, This team is showing it can be done without superstars, I think they will probably fade this season but it is nice to root for the underdog
