I think people put too much stock in "pride". Egos can bruise so easily anymore. There are definitely times when people should put their pride aside for the good of others.

You have to be careful with pride and lot let it guide your actions. . .pride is a great servant but a poor master. . .

On a small scale, I've done this. But I've found that sometimes what seems like doing something honest that hurts your pride ends up being the only dignified way to go.
