11/26/2006 | This was badly panned at issue, but it tends to grow on you over the years. It is grisly in concept. A padrone in Latin America offers a reward for someone to bring him the head of Alfredo Garcia who knocked up the padrone's daughter. It goes down hill from there.
I watched again the other night, and it continues to grow on you. Peckinpah has Oates, one of Sam's favorites, and some of Sam's other regulars, Emilio Fernández and Kris Kristofferson, but the addition of nice guys, Gig Young and Robert Webber as super nasties is innovative.
Peckinpah bit player, and buddy of Kristofferson, Donnie Fritts, country western singer and writer, also shows up in this flick.
