Forgiveness never comes easy. Forgiving someone abusing my child comes even harder. But I have heard of people forgiving a murderer of their own xhild or relative. we all have what it takes to forgive within us. The problem is not that we can't do it (we can) but we refuse to do it. And, ironically, the unforgiving person suffers more than the unforgiven.

One of the teachings of Jesus Christ in the Lord's prayer concerns forgiveness. And forgiveness is the only comment Jesus makes regarding the prayer, telling us that it is the most important part of the prayer itself.

My mother never forgave my step-father or grandfather, and I certainly wouldn't forgive a person who abused my child either.

From the context I'm taking attacker/abuser to mean molester or predator, rather than some schoolyard aggression.

In which case, no I wouldn't. And I wouldn't forget them either.

I don't have any kids yet, but I'd have a hard time seeing myself forgive anyone who would hurt a child, mine or otherwise.

If I had kids and one was attacked or abused, I just couldn't help but think about the fact that the Superstition Mountains out here in Arizona have alot of empty mineshafts...

When something is done to me, it's possible to forgive, when it comes to my loved ones, it's unforgivable.
