 | themoviefan (0) 12/11/2006 | The best R&B album of 2005 is "The Way It Is" by the Bay Area's Keyshia Cole. Words to describe the album and artist are "ambitous, refreshing, raw, talented" The first single's from the album we're "I changed my mind" and "I just want it to be over". Later one's are "I should have cheated", "Love" and "You've Changed". Her voice and style draws comparisons to Mary J Blige. Her vocal range also sounds similar to a younger Deborah Cox. The album talks and focus’s on relationships, cheating, and staying faithful. Perhaps a listener not familiar with her music style which is streetsmart and urban will find the talent of her voice is apparent and engaging. The guests rappers on the album Kanye, Jadakiss, Eve, and Chink Santana are descent guest rappers and take nothing away from the vocalist. The album tends to get stronger song by song and she does a great justice to the listener to what a vocalist is supposed to do and that is to let the listener in and let them feel what they are feeling.
