A very good fielder, a good baserunner who led the league in steals once, and a pesky hitter who usually hit around .300. He played from 1940-53, not counting years he served in WW2. All 3 DiMaggio brothers could field, but what's interesting is that all 3 were very different types of hitters- Dom I already mentioned, Joe of course was a superstar, and Vince was a low average hitter who struck out a lot but did homers. Probably the second best center fielder in the history of this team- Fred Lynn was a great player at his best, better than Dom: but DiMaggio was there longer.

Excellent centerfielder, possibly equal to Speaker on defense, but not in the same class as a hitter. Having said that, he was hardly an automatic out, however, and was a valuable lead off hitter.
