God, this guy was fun to watch, and even more fun to watch him be interviewed. A clutch pitcher who always wanted the ball, he delivered a startling array of pitches out of a wind up that was unique in baseball. (Think Hideo Nomo meets Dontrelle Willis)

A great character with a great sense of humor, a big game pitcher, and a 3 time 20 game winner for them in the 70's, the son of a Cuban player who'd played in the Negro Leagues. Loved watching him as a young kid. Tiant's best year was actually in 1968: he was a 20 game winner with a 1.60 ERA for a pretty good team in Cleveland , it was a terrific year which was overshadowed by the feats of Gibson and McClain. After that he had a terrible year with the Indians, bounced to the Twins, and was playing in the Braves farm system before the Sox picked him up. He played from 1971 to 1978 with them. Not at the level of, say, Young, Clemens, and Martinez, but a 4 star Red Sox pitcher.
