Excellent centerfielder, probably second best the Sox ever had (behind Speaker). Very exciting, but very brittle player, and a much better player in Fenway than out of it.

3.5 An injury prone center fielder who played with them from '74 to '80, and who won the MVP and Rookie of the Year award in '75 and had another monster year in '79. Had power, could hit for average and was a fine fielder, and an exciting player, though sometimes criticized for a rather cavalier attitude. Traded after the 80 season to the Angels, and was never the same, though he had a good year in '82 and wasn't exactly a bad player after leaving. Ultimately, his career was somewhat disappointing after a brilliant start.
