"The Boomer" was a likeable, jolly, slugger, and a great fielder in his youth before he put on the pounds. In truth, most of his best years were spent in the middle of his career with the Brewers in the mid 70's, but he had some good years in his two different stints with Boston too, though some bad ones as well. Kind of like a better fielding version of Mo Vaughn in his prime, though not exactly the same type of hitter, or quite as good as Vaughn.
