Harry Hooper is an excellent example of how a player can rank higher on a team's all time list than one comprised of players of all teams. Hooper is in the HOF, but is one of the guys who really shouldn't be in there. Hooper had speed and some power by deadball standards, was an excellent right fielder (and the first player, or first guy of note to wear sunglasses) and did play for 4 Series winning teams. With Tris Speaker and Duffy Lewis, he was part of one of the great outfields of the first half of the 20th century. However, while Hooper's .281 lifetime average isn't as bad as it might appear considering that the bulk of the guy's career was spent in the deadball era, it still isn't earthshattering, and though a smart and respected player, and for a time one of the best rightfielders in baseball, was never a true superstar. Disgusted by Harry Frazee's breakup of the team, he was later sent to the White Sox, who were decimated by the '19 Series scandal after the '20 season and played in Chicago till '25. Hooper is credited with coming up with the idea to turn Ruth into an everyday guy. After Evans, I would say he's the second greatest right fielder in team history.
