3.5 Left field has historically been the position of greatest all-time strength for this team, and although Lewis was not a great player, he was a good one, and the best pre- Ted Williams Red Sox left fielder. Lewis was, at his peak, something of a slugger by deadball era standards, and was part of a great outfield in the 1910's with Tris Speaker and Harry Hooper that is usually considered to be one of the great defensive outfields. After the first World War, he briefly played with the Yankees and Senators, but was not the same player as he had been before the war.
