Palacio de Bellas Artes 5

Bellas Artes is a must see in Mexico City. I've never seen a performance there, but the building itself is spectacular. The building is mostly marble, with a huge domed ceiling. The walls of Bellas Artes are covered with original murals from some of the greats - Diego Rivera and Ruffino Tamayo, for example. When I was there, there was an exhibit from Mexican painter, photographer and sculptor Gabriel Orozco. But the best part are the huge, intricate murals. I spent about 15 minutes in front of Rivera's 'Man Controls the Universe' mural, trying to figure out all the politics and eras that he captured in the painting. Really impressive stuff.
