Pure genius! I used to get pop-up ads for pop-up blockers too. Who would trust that type of company to act in your interest?

UPDATE: I guess this is mainly true with freeware, although others do it to tract you so they can bug you to death to buy their software. ORIGINAL MESSAGE: This is so true; you have to install at least two spyware programs so they will remove each other's spyware they create. A sad way to do business.

I've heard claims, but I can't find the articles to back it up; however, I HAVE found articles in regards to various "Antispyware" companies that have fradulently claimed to have "scanned" computers and found spyware which wasn't there to induce people into buying their product or even making their computer less secure, which isn't that much better: http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,128078/article.html http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,124508/article.html http://blogs.pcworld.com/staffblog/archives/000567.html

Dunno, but it wouldn't come as a hell of a shock.

Call it my "post-Enron" cynicism about corporate thinking.

(Which I had way before Enron, by the way)

This is a crappy way to make money, but I certainly wouldn't doubt it. "Hey, lets write some software that will f*** up a computer and then sell people software to fix it!" Assholes.

I have heard a lot about this lately and have had some problems with malicious software finding its way to my computer. I would like to think this is not happening but it seems like it would be fairly easy to do.
