A small, two-floor bar/lounge that plays good hip hop and house music and sells strong cocktails (their Long Island Iced Tea knocked me out). The vibe is hip, urban, and classy. This place is usually crowded on weekends.

What a neat little place this is. I went to John Colins to celebrate the arrival of 2007, and it did not disappoint. It's a loft-like space with high ceilings - it feels like a cross between a warehouse and a ski lodge. There are cool little nooks scattered around where table service is avaiable. When I was there they were projecting vintage 1985 breakdancing videos on the wall, and there's some really unique San Francisco art throughout. The bartenders and staff were great (the owner was on hand working his ass off as well) - overall it was a great time. If you're looking for a solid night out, grab some Thai food at Osha, and then take the 30 second stroll around the corner to John Colins. You won't regret it.
