John de Jongh (D) was elected Governor of the Virgin Islands in 2006 succeeding the term limited incumbent Governor, Charles Wesley Turnbull (D),

This is de Jongh's first elected office. Since 1992, de Jongh has been out of political life, but has been a powerful and successful businessman.
