I signed up with Military Singles Connection (MSC) for a life-time membership in October of 2004. (They no longer offer those!) I paid $59.99 for it and figured, "what the heck!" At first, it paid off. Guys were IMing me, sending me smiles, and even mingle mailing me. Then, it quickly stopped just as quickly as it started. Matches would be E-Mailed me, but I never felt the majority were good matches and I had heard early on from another female member to watch out because there were more women on the site and that most got outright nasty with other women if they felt that woman was "moving in" on a man they had set their eyes on and that I didn't want or need to get caught up in that due to the viciousness of the women who felt threatened. I wound up leaving MSC for several months and decided to return in May of 2005 to give it another try. About a month went by and nothing ever transpired with anyone. I'd see several guys logged in for hours on end and for days at a time sometimes so I began initiating contact with some of them only to never hear anything back so I decided to post about that on their message boards. One of the female members mingle mailed me and told me she wondered what was up with that too and felt that most of the guys there were only looking for women to cyber with or meet in close proximity with offline only so they could get a quick piece of ass. I mingle mailed her back to agree and wound up leaving MSC shortly thereafter. Several weeks went by and I decided it was time to cancel the lifetime membership since I wasn't getting anything out of the site. About 6 to 8 months passed and I decided to go back to MSC and that perhaps I had made a mistake in cancelling my lifetime membership. MSC was cool about it and even though they couldn't give me the lifetime membership back, they re-activated my account anyway and let me come back as a free member. I'm still with MSC as a free member, but rarely check in anymore. There are a few nice guys on the site like RandomRonin (Coast Guard) whom I truly believe are there for the right reason and who would never take advantage of a woman, but the majority are assholes who don't want commitment and who care less about the women they hurt. So if you're going to use this dating site, then I suggest you exercise some caution in doing so and keep in mind that most of the men there aren't interested in anything serious. Therefore, you'd be better off paying for something better, like eHarmony. At least the men are men and are serious about commitment.
