Great pets, quiet, clean, (use of a defecatorium) not overly skittish, and the habitat isn't as expensive as some of your other reptiles. Also, they are just plain fascinationg  :-)

Great for begginers and hobbiest alike. Very mello, and rarley ever bites. In addition, they do not need UV lighing since they are nocturnal. You can give it to them, but they would be hiding all day instead of hanging out in the tank. DO NOT use desert blend as a substrate. They are so small that if they swallow it, they could become compacted. Also, do not use repti sand as a substrate, the sand is so fine, that it can get into their eyes and cause some damage. Use Millet Blend (easily digestible) or if you want to use a type of sand use Calci-Sand. The only addtitional stuff required for this lizard is a heating pad, don't use heat rocks, cause if they malfunction and the gecko is on it, he could cook to death. A heat lamp can and should be used in colder months, but is generally not nescessary. Again, this is a great animal for young children because of their easy demeaner. Always make sure you buy captive bred and not wild caught for any reptile. They are usually much healthier and you won't have to worry about illness the animal could be carrying from the wild.
