He synthesised a southern pickin' style that he would have learned barnstorming the south with Ronnie Hawkins in the early days with the folk rock style of the Byrds and Buffalo Springfield. His work served Dylan well in his electric period and was a distinctive element in the Band's pioneering Americana/Roots style.

Very solid and disciplined with occasional flashes of fire.

He is a Canadian who is part Mohawk Indian. He did a lot of work in Canada. I remember him with the Band in the mid 1960's and he associated with Dylan as I recollect and his mechanics gained lots of praise at the time. Robertson's distinctive guitar sound was an important part of the Dylan music of that time. He has been working with Martin Scorsese lately.
