I don't care what any one says any thing Rap should not be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. At this point I think the whole thing is just about making money of off old songs. Grand Master Flash pleaseee

Rap is rooted in R&B, which (at least in the '50s and '60s) was the equivalent to rock, which is rooted in blues (since PlanetaryGear wants only blues-based genres in) You can't exclude rap just because the artists don't play guitars and are black, which seems to be the main objections on this list. Anyway, Run-D.M.C. was the most influential rap group, and should get in in 2008.

PlanetaryGear, I agree with you that the Hall should just be for rock - but isn't it too late - they've just inducted Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. And Chic has been nominated multiple times - I'm sure they'll get in eventually. I've been listening to rock radio for 30 years - and to the majority of rock fans out there, the only DMC song that they are familiar with is "Walk This Way", which the music critics say resurrected Aerosmith's career - but I say it was the reverse - it put DMC on the map.

Look, I like Run DMC and I like hip hop music, in general. In fact I've had to defend rap and hip hop against RateitAll's resident Grand Dragons on more than one occassion. But let's not turn the RRHOF into a drunken free-for-all where any act from any genre can get in. Let's leave the Hall to those acts that are rooted in blues. The Hall already suffers from credibilty issues. Let's not further confuse matters.

RUN DMC were the first rap acts to be shined on with merit. they had platnium & gold records, the first rap axct to get a grammy, the first rap act on rolling stone, the first rap act on the walk of fame. they better get put in 2009 cause grandmaster flash is now in

If ever a rap artist had to be included, it's NEVER too soon for these guys. Broke through to the mainstream collaborating with Aerosmith, and the whole hip-hop scene has sung or spoken the praises of the trio. I will be absolutely shocked if they're not in their first year of inclusion, 2008. Yes, it's like that, and that's the way it is.
