Stevie Ray Vaughn was one of the most exciting guitarists in my lifetime. He certainly deserves to be in.I guess the fickle fucks who buy todays phoney hype have forgotten him already, since they're sittin on their musical tastebuds.
Metslover4Life 09/23/2009
Among the Top 10 guitarists of all time!
disgustingfats tupidsmellyugl ypig 09/07/2009
This may be a tad hypocritical of me, based on some previous reviews I've submitted, but to rock purists who might write SRV off as more of a blues guitarist than a true R&R artist, I say take off your blinders for just a moment and really listen to his work. I think you'll find that his guitar artistry stands up with the best of them in rock history...
DaveDiamond 09/04/2009
awesome player
Lindy3953 08/15/2009
I saw him in 1986. What a guitarist! The question is: Was he around long enough to qualify? Or is sentiment playing a role? Tough call here.
Geilz 07/04/2009
One of the all time greats, still I'm certain Stevie would like to see some of those classic rock bands still awaiting their moment in first.
LoFidelity 05/31/2009
1st ballot hall o' famer
devasic1 04/23/2009
Maybe the last truly loved blues rock player on a mainstreamm level?
BrotherHanson 03/24/2009
1st Ballot
GuardianAngel 03/22/2009
Should have been a 1st ballot Inclusion

It's time to let Stevie in.12/15/07 UpdateI contacted the President of the Hall, they indicated that SRV was not eligible to be on the ballet until next year;25 years from first album release of something like that. So maybe better fate for SRV than for DEEP PURPLE, Genesis, Jethro Tull, Moodys, Yes, Chicago, and others deserving induction before jazz artists such as Miles Davis, and country legends, or minor 50's artists such as Richie Valens. No offense to any of them, but this is a ROCK AND ROCK HoF, isn't it?
STDmuffon 03/13/2009
Pretty good player in his day

Word has it Stevie Ray Vaughn was nominated this year. That would've been a thrill. I would love to see SRV in the Hall of Fame soon, though. Texas Flood was his debut but it didn't become a big hit until 1986, 4 years after his release. My brother-in-law gave me a copy and he played like nobody else. Couldn't Stand The Weather was my 1st encounter with him and his take on Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)" was amazing. In Step is one of my favorites. It's a very upbeat and poignant album and the reason for that was he had been rehabilitated. "Riviera Paradise" brings tears to my eyes. Then of course, there's his album with his brother and the posthumous The Sky Is Crying. The fact that greats like Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck praised him make this a no-brainer. Heck yeah, this guy should be in by now.
scarletfeather 07/17/2008
Never heard of this guy. He must be dead.
FranksWildYear s 07/17/2008
This one is a tough call for me. I was a huge fan and he was hands down the top player of his era (admirttedly there wasn't a lot of steller competition during his era). But I'm not sure that he's Hall of Fame stuff. He was a master craftsman, integrity till the end, played with great heart and a brilliant synthsist of styles, but not really a pioneer, or innovator per se. And because he was such a singular talent, I don't know that he'd rate as influential. Very tough call but I'd have to say worthy on a year with a weak ballot at best.
Astromike 07/17/2008
YES! He had style, a good mix of blues/rock & roll, a good voice, and was a damn good guitarist! Get him in!
Missynotprissy 07/03/2008
He is good but there are more deserving blues style players.

The Hall better be careful with their inductees or they are going to have to legally change their name to the Pop Music-MTV Hall of Fame. Are you freaking kidding me? ! ? Madonna before SRV? She wasn't even a thought when he was already putting great music out ! ! !
JandC 03/08/2008
I think that Stevie Ray Vaughn is one of the first American Blues Guitarists in the 1980's.
aartizookniemi z 02/26/2008
SRV is one of the best blues guitarist ever. and I saw madonna on the list. and SRV is beter and more important for music than madonna ever will be
schneicp 12/20/2007
My #1 guitar player ever, based on raw skill, emotion, and influence....should be a first year entry for sure!!!!
jmissirlis 12/14/2007
Don't personally like his stuff but he has influenced so many artists that he deserves to be inducted.
Drummond 10/26/2007
He was brilliant. Sort of like Hendrix, along the lines of Hendrix's Band of the Gypsies album. Great fusion. So sad it was cut so short.
GWAR 10/01/2007
It would be cold shot if he isn't inducted next year
jgls 09/26/2007
i'm actually shocked he isn't a member. he should have been inducted the year he died.
srvang 07/25/2007
should automatic be in with-out a qustion. He's amazing. He's truly talented and earned the rigth to a space in the hall of fame
Sincopare 07/12/2007
Just such a shame he had to go after kicking his horse. Check out "Live at the El Mocambo"
ILikePie 06/25/2007
One of the greatest guitarists of all time, and created some of the most inventive and inspirational music of all time. SRV is certainly worthy of the hall of fame. R.I.P.
eddiecook 05/25/2007
Should be an automatic entry.
bassman44113 04/21/2007
Stevie's influence among todays guitar players alone is reason for him to be in the Rock Hall of Fame. It would truly be a Hall of Shame without him.
ZZTopVA 04/20/2007
Hard to believe it's only been 25 years...SRV we miss you...and better induct Double Trouble with him!
letreado 04/16/2007
Listen to Stang's Swang, and you can't help hear the tribute to the tradition while creating something rich and new. The accomplished guitar playing is one thing, but the influence with which he drew listeners into his performances extended far beyond skills, or you wouldn't hear the legends themselves praise SRV. He was a great, and to find his likes again would be a great gift to music today. Meanwhile, let's celebrate his contributions.
Caspery 04/07/2007
Rock Hall Analysis - Pros: Brought blues back to the mainstream, highly skilled guitarist. Cons: Didn't do anything that thousands of blues artists hadn't previously done.
popisdead 03/25/2007
srv is my idol
killermckiller 03/23/2007
yes one of the greatest guitar players, wished his songs could have matched his skills though
MRSD 03/21/2007
One of the best musicians out there, he should be remembered as one of the greatest guitarists ever.
WuzUp 03/16/2007

littlsister 03/12/2007
SRV was the best blues guitar player that ever walked the face of the earth--if not the best guitar player. He was responsible for the second wave rock-blues revival, which occurred in the '80s.
doobiesNhof 02/23/2007
SRV could flat out play the blues with the best of them including Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, BB King, Albert King, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Muddy Waters...on and on. The tragedy of his death in 1990 ended a life and career that was still maturing and getting better day by day. RRHOF needs to get off their a**and induct him as soon as he is eligible and while they're at it also The Doobie Brothers.
cevaking 02/08/2007
The intro says it all - Stevie Ray Vaughan ignited the blues revival of the '80s. Vaughan drew equally from bluesmen like Albert King, Otis Rush, and Muddy Waters and rock & roll players like Jimi Hendrix and Lonnie Mack, as well as the stray jazz guitarist like Kenny Burrell, developing a uniquely eclectic and fiery style that sounded like no other guitarist, regardless of genre. Now add that he was such a great and humble person, and that there's a statue of him standing proudly in austin, texas and you've got everything you need in a hall of famer - pure legend.
grungeisdead 01/31/2007
Blues for the hall
KanMan 01/11/2007
A no-brainer. Absolutely saved me from the wretchedness of 80s music.
marto 01/09/2007
he was the biggest blue rock man in the world
djdavem 01/09/2007
First album in 1983, and should be an easy shoo-in. Hardly ANY blues-rock performers have lived up to his long lasting fame as much as Stevie. RIP.
