Having grown up in Syracuse and living there most of my life, Boeheim is nothing to write home about. The majority of non-conference games that Syr plays are against cupcakes (or ladyfingers, if you prefer). The Orangemen don't usually leave the state until January. I'd actually give Boeheim a 4 but he put up a huge fight against Syracuse going to the ACC a few yrs ago because he knew he couldn't hackt it alongside Coach K. His wife is hot too

Are you kidding me? Jim Boeheim #2? Your system of measure is obviously flawed. He is a good coach, but not that good. Also, there are certain things you cannot quantify. For instance, coaches who "invented" new strategies, or how many of his players went on to be NBA stars, or how many individuals under his guidance went on to coach college and NBA teams. Such things show much more than simple wins/losses stats.

you people must be kidding. The only list he should be on is biggest whiner/complainer/crybaby. Good recruiter, sure. Coach: marginal. Look at how many less talented teams he's lost to (in tourney) over the years.

To show some respect for his longevity and Hall of Fame induction I'll go with four stars, but I definitely don't consider Jim Boeheim one of the greatest college coaches and he certainly doesn't deserve the top spot on this list (which is where I find him as of this comment). For a coach who has been at the same school for 30+ seasons, I do find ~10 conference tournament and regular season championships (combined) but none occurred the same season (per Wikipedia) and he's only been to the national championship game three times (per the prior comment). Moreover, I'm not aware of any game innovations that are attributed to Boeheim. Impressive, but not great when compared to the likes of John Wooden, Dean Smith, and Mike Krzyzewski.

I agree. The man is a genius. He can take a defucnct old man defense and turn it into a NCAA champion and runner up twice in a town that doesn't have sun and more snow fall than nome alaska...GENIUS
