That this man was a starting third baseman for a major league team is unbelievable, simply mind boggling. The Red Sox would have done better with the Philly Phanatic at the hot corner. Hobson couldn't throw, and couldn't stop a pumpkin from rolling up hill.

The absolute pits. Hands down the worst fielding Red Sox player I've seen, and I've been to Fenway many, many times. Atrocious. To a lot of people, especially conservative old timey types, Don Zimmer is one of the class acts of baseball ( unless your club actually had him as a skipper) but one of the many reasons I hate that reactionary rodent, the grand old man of lard, besides persecuting and purging the characters known as the Buffalo Heads ( Lee, Wise, Carbo, Jenkins, and Willoughby) is that he played Hobson every single day with swollen chips in his elbow, he made, I think 43 errors that year. Butch Hobson was about as good of a fielder as Dracula was as a humanitarian.
