"Tau Kappa Everyone". Not fair to rank this large and powerful fraternity due to the fact that some chapters are terrific and some are laughable. . .but being the biggest, you take some shots. . .

My guess is that it varies from chapter to chapter, but the TKE's at the school I went to were pretty much worthless. They were primarily composed of the football team, most of which never went to any of their meeting or fraternity functions. They probably did the most things to warrant getting thrown off campus, yet never got in any trouble because they had a few TKE alums (from other chapters) as professors and administrators.

daveytke actually the Knights of Classic Lore was created in 1899 and adopted the greek letters tke to look more attractive to the Phi Delts and went to the Phi Delt's national conference to try to get chartered and even though it came close it never happened, so they decided to remain tke and became a national fraternity in 1909

TKE has become the largest social fraternity in the world because of its mission, recruitment, and leadership programs.

Actually, Minkeydude is not straight on his TKE history. Phi Delt refused to reactivate its colony at Illinois Wesleyan. So TKE said, we'll do our own thing, and start our own fraternity (1899). However, we won't recruit you because you have daddy's money or social standing, we'll let you join because you have character. By 1957, TKE had the most chapters, even though most of the other fraternities were 50-100 years older. In many cases, the TKE chapters were smaller because they accepted new groups on campuses where there were no other fraternities. Of those fraternities founded prior to 1920, TKE is the only fraternity that never had a discrimination clause in their membership requirements.

TKE (Pronounced Teek)'s get a bad rap just about everywhere. It probably started due to their rapid growth without strict standards for their guys. The original TKE's were Phi Delts but got kicked out in the 1940's, and basically said screw this, we're going to grow bigger and better than Phi Delt ever will. They grew to have the most chapters, but their average chapter size was 7. Most people are familiar with "If you can't go Greek go TKE, if you can't go TKE, go home."
