 | Catus (0) 11/29/2007 | I've a 336W. I've owned and hunted a 30-06 and a .270, and a a couple diff muzzleloaders. Owned & shot several milsurp rifles. The Marlin is my current deer rifle, and I'm unlikely to sell it. I wish I'd gotten this rifle 30 years ago; it is just delightful. Trim, handy, good trigger, very accurate - it is as good a whiletail rifle as I can imagine. It doesn't have near the recoil of a 30-06, nowhere near the noise & muzzleblast of 30-06 or .270. The cartridge is plenty sufficient for where I hunt, in the woods. I've practiced at 100yds, never shot at a deer past about 90. Deer hit in the vitals drop as fast with this as with the 270. Excellent rifle, I recommend it.
