Actually works pretty good (Excedrin Migraine), if I take it at the onset of a migraine and it has not become too severe. I do caution you not to take to much of the OTC meds as you can start getting was is called "rebound" headaches.

I was told by a doctor that the only difference between Excedrin Migraine and regular Excedrin (or regular aspirin) is that the Migraine formula contains caffeine. I've actually found that plain aspirin taken at the start of a migraine is just as efficacious as the Migraine formula stuff. I was with my mother and a friend at a restaurant in South Jersey a year or so ago when my "aura" lights began twinkling. After a lifetime of suffering, I've come to a point where I generally take my migraines in stride, but this one caused me to panic. I had no medicine or pain-killer on me, I had to get through dinner, I had to drive both my friend and my mother back to their separate residences before driving still more miles to my own domicile; in other words, I was looking at a considerable amount of driving at night, and I'm an uptight driver under the best of circumstances. I mentioned what was happening in a shaky voice, and my friend offered me her aspirin. It was the best I could do, so I immediately popped 3 of them, washing it all down with a large Coke. Surprisingly, I was able to function fairly well during dinner, eating and conversing with minimal discomfort. On my way up the Garden State Parkway, my distress began to manifiest itself again, and I popped 3 more aspirins. Yes, that was a lot of aspirin, but this was an emergency. Thankfully, I was able to get my friend, my mother, and myself home in one piece. By the time I finally sank into my bed, I was completely wrung out and exhausted, and the next day I felt absolutely miserable. But, in a pinch, the aspirin had worked. At least on that occasion, it did.
