No. He did not select these players. He could have won gold with college players.

Just like he screwed up with the Pistons? I bet... Larry did better with the Pistons because they were actually a good team. This Olympics team was like someone threw a bunch of random leftovers on a plate and called it a gourmet dinner. Larry Brown was the reason they did AS WELL as they did. Without him, they might have lost every Olympic game they played.

I saw Larry Brown take an overacheiving Kansas team in 1988, and win the national Championship. He took an underdog Pistons team, and won the NBA championship. He knows more basketball than most people will ever know. But if his players don't buy into the scheme, it doesn't matter how good a coach he is. And the primma donnas that USA BB sent out, didn't buy into his system.

Larry Brown has forgotten more about Basketball than all of those players can possibly remember. They didn't hit their free throws and shot horribly from 12-18 feet. None of that is Brown's fault. This was a hall-of-fame top-5 coach and they didn't listen to him. Please. . .

Larry Brown is the best coach in the world and has the respect of virtually every player. If he couldn't get it done, no coach could have.
