I've gushed about my Roomba to family and friends so much that it's no wonder that someone gave me a Scooba for Xmas. This is basically the same technology as the Roomba, in that it works in an algorithm to cover the entire surface area of your floor plan. Unlike a Roomba, of course, this doesn't vacuum but rather mops. The thing is, it makes a lot more sense than regular mopping: with regular mopping, all you do is dilute the mess and spread it around the floor; with the Scooba, you clean the floor by suctioning the dirtiness up into the tank. It's also kind of a vacuum, too, in that it sucks up whatever dry dirt particles are in its path before it squirts out the liguid cleaner, brushes it, and suctions the now-dirty liquid into the tank. This is much more effective than regular mopping. The model I have, the 5900, is best in that it covers the largest amount of floor area per charge -- 500 square feet, which is more than you'll likely need at a time unless you happen to have tile or hardwood flooring throughout your house. Altogether, the floors are cleaner than they've ever been, and all I have to do is push a button and, at the end, empty the tank down the bathtub drain.
