Overall, I must say, Laura did a terrific job throughout the entire campaign.

first, i intend to vote for kerry, even though i don't care for him but i think he's better than what we have now.........however, i find laura bush to be an attractive and intelligent individual

I personally didn't care for the speech, but I know it will appeal to many people out there. It was civil, which is what most voters want, and fluffy.

Say what you want about all the great orators, this speech captured the grace and dignity of a prototypical First Lady. Liberals find it pandering and too homespun. Conservatives see it as mushy, fluff stuff. There is a large group of people out there who are not paying close attention and most likely saw a few minutes of this speech and thought what a nice lady she is. It is that audience who will decide who wins this election. You came away from her speech with the impression that that is who she really is and what she's really like. An important speech.

Beautiful person and wonderful first lady. I wasn't overwhelmed by her speaking skills nor her speech but I can imagine how poorly I would do under similar stress. Contrasting her humility and selflessness with the egocentric Heinz fits neatly when comparing their husbands as well. Bush jokes on himself fairly often. Kerry blames the security when he falls skiing. It begs the question who would you rather have a BBQ cookout with?
