I will always think of this as the Dick did not speech. The truth is, this speech served its purpose well. It added a semblance of carmudgeonly warmth to a polarizing political figure. But it brought to mind some other possibilities: Did Dick do anything to earn Americans' trust? Dick did not. Did Dick bring honor, ethics and honesty to the White House? Dick did not.
