 | fitman (36) 02/22/2008 | While I'm not thrilled by the prospect of having Hillary at the helm, I don't believe the nation can survive four more years under the heel of another radical rightwingnut. Haven't we had enough destructive madness already?
BTW, Does anybody really believe Hillary's going to confiscate our guns and bibles?

 | James76255 (17) 02/10/2008 | It's times like this I really wish there were half stars. I have a lot of respect for the man. He has lived an interesting life. His politics are a little hard to describe as he's kind of all over the place. Conservative on some issues, liberal on others, and somewhere in the middle on others. Of late, he has talked more about border security, and if he follows through with what he says now it wouldn't be too bad. He's still in a "we could do worse" catagory for me. I might vote for him, I might not. I'll probably wait and see what kind of candidate the Libertarian Party puts out there and take a look at some other third party choices before I make my decision. Put me down as a definite maybe.

 | harrisoncollin (0) 02/03/2008 | As Americans make their way to the polls in february 5th, they must think who is the candidate that is more experienced and prepared to lead our country in the next 4 years. As one can see the United States is experiencing many problems beginning with the war in Iraq, foreign affairs, national security, the economy, and our reputation that has degraded. The only candidate that has indeed given the best answers to the issues that are of great concern to the American people is John McCain! John McCain is a politician with a remarkable career who has devoted his profession for the benefit of our country. He is by far the most experienced not only in foreign affairs, national security, the economy, but in war since he experienced it first hand in vietnam! MCCain is also the only candidate who will be able to establish a relationship with other nations so they may not see our country as arrogant.
VOTE JOHN McCAIN FOR PRESIDENT!!!!
Americans don't want a flip flopper who is not honest like Mitt Romney who changes his position on issues to attract supporters.

 | USADude (3) 12/04/2007 | Senator John McCain has a record of opposing wasteful spending and advocating a stronger, smarter national defense. As President, McCain will reduce spending, secure the border, secure our national security, win in Iraq, have a nuclear energy program, and reform corruption.

 | abichara (60) 10/31/2007 | I personally dont think he will get the nomination, but it's interesting to point out that even at this late stage in the game, there is no one clear front runner for the nomination yet established. Weak political environments are an invitation to volatility, and McCain might be a big beneficiary as such. His attempts to market himself as a conservative who can appeal to most wings of the party are helping move his poll numbers slightly up. He's essentially following John Kerry's roadmap to the nomination, lay low and focus in winning the early primaries in hopes of gaining momentum (and more money) later on. Interesting to note that Kerry's campaign at this point in time in the election cycle was also moribund and half-broke, yet he went on to win. McCain may not please all conservatives, but his record is more consistent on their issues than Giuliani's or Romney's. That's why I think we should still keep an eye out for him. He might still have a pulse after all!

 | caphillsea77 (29) 03/10/2007 | I can't see what this guys true colors really are, and I use to like him. I wouldn't trust him in the white house, his stance on Iraq has been political suicide.

 | EschewObfuscation (61) 02/24/2007 | As I stated on the other candidates' list, he is a great man and a great American, but time has passed him by. His best shot was 2000 but he did not get it done. He will certainly not be the republican candidate in 2008 but might serve as an influential voice in determining who wins that nomination. I think the reference above to his being characterized as a republican maverick in the Senate is incorrect. He is called a maverick by members of the press who favor democrats in their coverage. He is regarded as an elder statesman in the Senate. Members of the liberal press always call a republican who goes against the party a maverick. You never hear that flattering term used to describe a democrat (like Joe Lieberman) who goes against the party, though.
His unflinching support of the war is probably an outgrowth of his experience as a POW during the Vietnam War, while his country lost its collective will to fight the fight it had to continue fighting. Much like it is doing today.

 | GenghisTheHun (168) 02/24/2007 | Groan! This guy is a really poor choice. Perhaps he and George W. Bush are the only two high officials left in the world who think that pouring more troops into Iraq is a good idea.

 | doobiesNhof (21) 02/22/2007 | This man is a flip flopper just like John Kerry was in 2004. His conservative platform and his support of Bush and the Iraq war dooms his chances. No thank you!!
