Greene Street Friends is a private Quaker Lower and Middle school located in the neighborhood of Germantown in Philadelphia. It's a small private school with solid academics and a very good school experience that makes it a quality academic option for families that wish to send their children to private school.
GSFS is located across the street from Germantown Friends School and while the two schools are on good relations , they really operate as their own separate schools. This is just fine for Greene Street. The School is very much in line with Quaker ideals and it reflects in much of how the school operates. The school itself has grown , expanding it's campus along the City block it occupies while adding a middle school ( 7th and 8th grades) some twenty years ago. The changes have been part of the evolution of the school. GSFS is a great academic option for middle class families in Northwest Philadelphia ( mainly Germantown and Mt. Airy). Like GFS, there is a left leaning liberalism based on Quaker ideals that define the school. It makes for a more unique school experience, but in a good way. There really seems to be a sense of community among those who attend the school. Because it's students move onto High School it doesnt always carry over to it's alumni. Still this is a great little school in a good section of Philadelphia that offer a solid education that fits right in with it's surroundings.
