The dynamic frontman of grunge-revivalists Nickelback since its inception, Chad Kroeger is the person most associated with the group. Kroeger was born in 1974, growing up idolizing guitar bands and dreaming of starting his own. Started in Hanna, Alberta, Nickelback moved to Vancouver and began to make a name for themselves with releases that hit it big in Canada. Breaking into the American rock scene around the turn of the century, the band had a massive hit with "How You Remind Me," making Kroeger a recognizable figure in the alternative rock world. In 2002, a bleak duet with Saliva singer Josey Scott became a surprisingly large hit based on its appearance in the Spider Man movie. Later that year, Kroeger appeared on Santana's Shaman and produced Theory of a Deadman's eponymous debut.
