Tigers will prove their true power the 2nd half of the season as their pitching staff should return to its dominance and their offensive power will continue to get stronger and stronger. This could definately be one of th best tiger teams ever put together. Dare I say even better than the '84 tigers...could be, we'll just have to wait and see.

The Tigers were surprise World Series participants last year, and they are definitely contenders to make it back in 2007. Their pitching staff was excellent last year, and they should be great again if Kenny Rogers doesn't break down and Justin Verlander avoids a sophomore slump. They also had a pretty decent lineup, and the addition of Gary Sheffield should help them produce more runs as well. Most importantly they didn't lose a whole lot off of their team from last season. Usually when a team has great success, somebody will leave that team in search of a payday somewhere else. The Tigers seem poised to have another excellent year if everything falls into place.

Other than Sheffield, they're essentially bringing back virtually the same crew as last year. They have a good young rotation and some underrated players. They play in a tough division where every team except for K.C. is at least good, but it wouldn't shock me if they won the pennant again. This team doesn't have a real superstar, but they're at least decent almost everywhere and quite deep overall.

Certainly not a team to be taken lightly, and must be considered a serious contender.

But I'm going to stop way short of declaring Gary Sheffield to be the missing ingredient they need. He may have matured a little, but the head-case he has always been is still in there somewhere.

All of the tools are in place.

Sheffield may be aging but he can contribute to this team this year for sure.

I think the Tigers can get over the top this year!
