I love how they're beating up on the Mets right now.

I'd crap myself if they won, too.

Horrific pitching and almost no hitting. Throw in dismal defense and these guys have a shot at being the worst team of the new Millenium.

Washington DC- first in the nation for fabricating reasons for wars based on false pretenses. . .first in making sure that real problems in our nation aren't taken care of because it might upset some people. . .first in politcal clout and influence. . .and LAST in the National league East. . .

Oscar is right that Chad Cordero and Ryan Zimmerman are the only good things to look forward to with this team. Living in the DC area, all of the talk this spring is about how John Patterson is the only person who has a starting spot locked...and he only had 8 starts last year! This might be the worst pitching staff ever assembled, and the Nationals will struggle mightily in 2007. The good news for the Nats. They start their first year with new ownership, and their stadium next to the Anacostia River is starting to take shape.

Let me start by saying that this is probably my absolute favorite of the annual lists. That being said, this aggregation has a good shot at being the absolute worst baseball team next year. There isn't much pitching at all here- it's an almost totally anonymous and undistinguished group beyond the closer Chad Cordero. There are a few good players such as third baseman Ryan Zimmerman, but this team should finish in the cellar of the N.L. East and maybe by a pretty wide margin too.
