This is almost a wash when you start talking about LCD monitors (+/- 3W). Better to invest your energy in other environmental initiatives. Color matters in site design. There's a reason Google is white.

Encourage Websites to go with Low-Power Palettes 1

LOL . . . I'm not sure if this article is actually serious or not. According to treehugger.com, the white web page would take 74 watts to display, but a dark one would take up 59 watts. And since Google gets lots of hits, this would add up all over the world (?). If it is serious, it's interesting, but ridiculously overboard.

(Incidentally, the website that has this article has a white background.  Ironic, no?)
