I hope this does not happen in schools!!! It may work in the Armed forces or a professional sports team, but thats because it's all part of the breaking down process for you to work as a team!! At school you are there to learn and all students have different learning abilities; some slower than others. I was a late bloomer when it came to education and I would have found this kind of treatment very unsettling and embarrassing!! This coming from a man that has a Degree and Diploma in different subjects!! I pity the teacher that tries this with my daughter. !!!!

Gutless teachering masquerading as "innovative" or "tough" depending on point of view.

Yah, it's gotta be more than annoying for the innocent parties. What is the teacher thinking...that the students are responsible for one person's behavior? A teacher who would do this is a frustrated wannabe Marine Drill Instructor. Collective-schmollective. Boot the kid and get back to work...They can learn collective responsibilty in phys-ed, or a club, or working on the school paper.

It is a good example to teach collective responsibility and discourage bad behavior of other potential dissidents.
